Hardware repairs
limited to repair of field serviceable parts that are readily available for
purchase; the plan does not include the cost of parts, freight, taxes, or any
required third party services. Help Desk is available to assist, by phone or
remote computer connection, during posted business hours and days and not more
than one hour per incident. Help desk response is
usually immediate but is subject to technician availability. Tune-up, hardware
repair, and help desk limited to four incidents per year.

Terms and Conditions FAQ
- Is there a waiting period?
There is no waiting period if your computer is brand new out of the box.
Otherwise there is a two week waiting period, necessary
to ensure that your computer is not already infected.
- Can I subscribe to these plans even if my computer is already infected?
Yes, however you will be required to pay for removal
of your current infections at our normal rate before your plan subscription
takes effect. If you decide to sign up for a non-Basic plan, we will waive your
setup fee.
- What if I already have antivirus software?
We require the use of software that is on our approved
list. If you have an existing license of an approved malware solution, you
can keep it, provided that it has an active legal license for the duration
of your subscription with our service. Otherwise, we will need to remove your existing malware software and
install our approved software.
- Is your software "freeware"?
No. We use only fully licensed, commercial grade anti-malware
solutions, even for personal non-commercial use. It is important that you
have the best protection available in order to minimize the likelihood that
you will need our infection removal services.
- Why don't you recommend brands I've heard of, such as Norton or McAfee?
We recommend products that have been shown, through
experience, to provide the best combination of protection and "low impact"
on your computer performance, at a reasonable price, and that work well in
combination. Our brands are in use on tens of millions of computers
worldwide. Certain brands, such as Norton and McAfee, are heavily marketed,
particularly as "trialware" pre-installed on new computers, however in
practice we have found them less satisfactory in terms of price,
performance, or "feature bloat" (trying to do everything, but in the end
doing nothing very well). Our assessment of a given brand may change,
however, and we reserve the right to modify our approved product list as the
various brands evolve over time. If a brand falls off of our approved list,
we will replace it on your computer at no charge at time of subscription
renewal.
- What is the turnaround time for an infection removal?
For the limited Triple Protection plans, where you
receive a discounted price for infection cleaning, you may choose either our
Standard level (typically one business day), or Rush level (same day
initiation and top priority return). Under the unlimited Triple Protection plans, infections are
removed on a "best effort" basis without a specific timeframe, up
to five business days. If time is of
the essence, you may choose to pay an additional incident fee to raise the priority of a given cleaning to our
Standard level, or Rush level. The option is yours.
- What if an infection cannot be removed? Due
to the constantly evolving nature of malware infections and the complexity of
removal, it is possible that normal removal procedures will not produce the
desired results in a timely manner. Such cases are rare, but when they
occur, we reserve the right to resolve the infection by re-installing your
computer operating system to its original state. In such cases, your
application programs (e.g., Office software) will need to be reinstalled,
and we will assist with that process for ordinary software applications
provided that you have current and legitimate licenses for the software. We
will contact you prior to conducting any reinstallation procedure, and we
will back up your data for safekeeping prior to commencing. However, the
nature of an operating system reinstallation implies that you will likely
spend some effort once the computer is returned to you, to ensure files,
folders, shortcuts, etc., are located in accordance with your preferences.
- How do I pay for a Triple Protection plan?
For your setup or
renewal fee, you may pay your annual fees by credit card, check, or cash.
For plans that have monthly charges , you will pay the initial setup fee by credit card, check, or
cash, and in addition you will sign up for the monthly subscription to be
automatically charged. The preferred approach is for you to subscribe via the payment page on our web site.
By using the Paypal payment button, you will be able to pay your monthly
charges by credit card, direct bank withdrawal, or Paypal account funds, at
your preference. Setting up a Paypal account is free, and by using Paypal, we will never have your credit card information on file, which is the
best approach for your privacy and security. If you do not have a Paypal
account and prefer not to open one, you can leave your credit card on file
with us and we will charge your card monthly.
- Can I prepay for a monthly subscription plan?
Yes. If you
prefer to avoid the monthly charge, you may pre-pay for an entire year,
and as a bonus we will discount your subscription by $15.
- Can I cancel my subscription?
With subscription plans, you are making a one year commitment to stay on the
plan.
You may cancel your subscription at any time by notifying us in writing (or
emailing) 30
days in advance of
your intent to cancel, and by paying the difference in cost between the
retail value of any infection cleanings we have performed and the monthly
fees you have already paid. In addition, during the first year, there is an early
termination fee of $79 to cover our setup and licensing costs.
- What if I am unable to drop off my computer at your office?
We offer pickup service at a
nominal charge. For senior citizens or persons with limited mobility, we may
waive the pickup charge within a designated service area.
- Can I apply an infection removal request to any of my computers?
Each computer must be
enrolled in its own subscription, and is tracked by serial number. However,
we do offer multi-computer plans to provide cost-effective solutions for
homes and businesses with multiple computers.
- Do you provide a warranty?
Yes. Any computer for which we provide infection removal services is
warranted for seven days after the computer is returned to you. Typically,
an infection that has not been completely removed will re-assert itself
within a day, hours, or even minutes of use, so seven days is more than
enough to ensure the computer is fully cleaned. If the same infection
returns within the seven day period, simply return the computer to us and we
will conduct further cleaning activities, or reinstall the operating system
if necessary. Of course, if you are enrolled in
our Gold or Total Care plans, the warranty period extends to the end of your subscription
period because infection cleanings are always free under those plans.
- Is the plan transferable?
Yes. You can transfer the plan from one computer to another provided you pay
the setup fee for the new computer, and subject to the same conditions and
waiting period applicable to plan setup. In other words, pre-existing
infections on the replacement computer are not covered.
- Do you offer mutli-computer discounts?
Yes. If you have multiple computers in your household or business, we have
options to allow you to pool together those computers to provide group
protection. Contact us for a price quote that is tailored to your
situation.
- Is there any other "fine print"?
There are some things that, while perhaps obvious, you should read and
understand. Although we conduct all reasonable due diligence to safeguard your computer and
data, at no time are we responsible for any data loss
that is directly or indirectly related to any computer infection or
misbehaving hardware or software, fire, theft, or any other reason, or any incidental damage from such data
loss or loss of use. You are always responsible for maintaining a full and
current backup of your computer data as protection against any loss (if you

click here). We are not responsible for the efficacy of any anti-malware
product. While we strive to always use
quality commercial-grade anti-malware products, the nature of the malware
threat is that it is constantly evolving and at any given time a computer
can be infected regardless of software protection mechanisms. There is no
substitute for your own vigilance and care in how you browse the
internet, manipulate email and attachments, and share files with others.
While working to remove infections from your computer, we may find
other problems, such as corrupt software
applications or faulty hardware. Correction of such faults is not included
in the coverage provided by the Triple Protection plans. We will notify you
of any such issues and you will have the option to have us correct any
problems at our then-current rates. We may decide, at our discretion,
to terminate your subscription after
reasonable conclusion of any work items. In case of early termination, you
will keep your software licenses for the duration of their license terms and
therefore will not be entitled to any refund of fees. If we terminate your
subscription while a covered work project is in process, we will reasonably
conclude that project. If we terminate your subscription while no covered
work project is in process, your coverage will expire at the end of the
month for which you have already paid. Our subscription pricing and
terms may change at any time without notice.
At the time of your subscription renewal, then-current pricing and terms, as
defined on this page, will take effect. If you are currently under
subscription, you will be notified of any pricing change prior to
subscription renewal.
